Lake Cabin scrap quilt

Mmm... a quilt finish.  Such a lovely feeling!  All these joyful colors bordered by beautiful aqua blue call to mind a bright summer weekend by the lake.  Oh, wouldn't that be nice!  Even in a simple cabin.  Even in a tiny quarter-sized cabin.  I'd take it!

This weekend I finished quilting and binding this impulsive scrap quilt.  I do think that heat setting my spray basting helped because this quilt was very flat and easy to maneuver, making for a pleasant quilting experience.  I also reduced walking foot pressure, which may be why there was zero quilt drag.  Thanks, Jacquie!

It was a delight to stitch so many novelty scraps into this quilt:  butterflies, bullfrogs, bears and birds; scissors and stars; mermaids, hearts and strawberries.  Fabrics are such fun, aren't they?  I had recently acquired this fantastic Leah Duncan print called Lions Tigers and Bears that shows off well on the back.  Some leftover quarter cabin blocks and scraps cut for the project found their way into the quilt back too.  I like it!

It seems I'm experiencing some wanderlust, but nothing that the next project can't solve.  I'm going to keep the restlessness at bay by planning my next class!  I guess now that my blog transition is complete (hurray for comments working!!!) I feel energized to tackle something new.

P.S.  Lake Cabins scrap quilt is now available in my shop!
