Tapestry Rose Geranium Toddler Dress

It was just a matter of time before I made Elora another Geranium dress.  This time I started with one of my favorite Rifle Paper Fabrics prints: Tapestry Rose from the Les Fleurs collection.  I used this fabric about a year ago for baby's 7 month update.  Now I get to put these fabrics on her, instead of under her.  Though, under her was also good!

For the bodice I've used Illuminated Graph in Rust by Anna Maria Horner.  The metallic grid gives this solid a bit of sparkle without stealing the show.  This is the same fabric I used recently for her Paris skirt.  It's washing and wearing well, so I see more of it in our future.

With warm weather making random appearances, Rora had the chance to wear her new dress this weekend.  But, good luck catching her standing still!  She's constantly running from one thing to the next.  If she's still, she's sure to be sitting, exploring some toy.  You'll have to try to put things together based on our jumble of photographs.

So, you might be able to make out that I made the capsleeve bodice with the pleated skirt.  This combo has a much more modern style than the gathered skirt for sure.  I didn't have quite enough Tapestry Rose fabric to get the proper pattern length, so I added a band of peachy fabric to extend the skirt.  It looks long here, but before I added the band it was going to show her diaper once hemmed.  This way she'll be able to wear the dress all summer long.

For back closure, I set a row of three kam snaps instead of buttons.  I'm still using the supplies that came with this Kam Snap Kit, which will last me quite some time.

After our active photoshoot, I sat down in the rocking chair to watch her play.  Little Miss discovered a new game with her curtains.

I don't usually let my kids play in the curtains, but just look at that face and those sweet little baby feet!  Too much fun.  Kiss, kiss!
