A few weeks ago, there was this: the happy outcome of scrappy triangle play.

Before long, I decided to do this. Because, yes, I do quilt pretty much everything on my longarm nowadays, even small projects. I can’t resist the design possibilities!

She’s quilted with feathered triangles, a gentle nod to the triangular patchwork. Not too busy, not too modern.

Today I’d like to show you what I did with the quilted patchwork, but first I have to wake up an adorable pair sleeping nearby - - -

You know I can’t go scooting around chairs in the living room without waking up everyone enjoying a mid-morning nap.

There, now you can see my latest patchwork chair!

Attaching the patchwork to the cushion is easy-peasy. The cushion top screws off from the wooden chair base. Then I wrap around the patchwork and my husband helps me staple the folded raw edges on the under side. Re-attach the cushion and, ta da - patchwork awesomeness!

I’ve made lots of patchwork chairs over the years, first these when we used to have matching dining chairs. Then we switched to miss-matched chairs which goes very nicely with miss-matched covers.

Sadly, the string block chair covers didn’t hold up well to heavy use. They were made quilt-as-you-go, which I don’t believe provided enough quilting stability. In contrast the normally-quilted patchwork chairs have all done very well. Bonus, all the different fabrics and colors are great for hiding any spills.

Our four little kittens are going to their new homes this weekend. I’m glad to catch them in photos before they go. We’ll miss their sweet faces!
