the wrong side of Decorum

Purge Picnic quilt

I like to leave my work out.  The next day my flaunted works-in-progress will either tantalize or torment me, as the case may be.  They remind my multitasking brain of the opportunities for progress that await.  Ahem.

To protect my works from the two most hairy cats in the world, I often put quilting rulers on top of my piles or some other hopeful deterrent.  In a case like this, the wrong side with all its glorious pressed-open seams tends to discourage the felines.  Apparently this is not up to their standards of softness.  Evil chuckle.  But the wrong side attracts me like a magnet.  Its underside is the secret territory of quilters, evidence of so much work, so much genuine care.  Those squares don't happen by accident.

Today I finished joining my Purge blocks and added a bold 10" border.   Because I was darn tired of making 4-patch blocks!  Because a large cut of Kona Cyan had been languishing in my stash for years.  I ADORE how it completes this picnic quilt top.  It says, "Yes, I meant to make a very bright, almost nauseatingly crazy quilt.  Just smile, just laugh and go with it."

Because there's no need for decorum at picnics.  Wink!
