Whimsy Wheel Baby Quilt
One of the quilt patterns I developed for Curves Class is the Wheel quilt. My first scrappy version hasn't debuted here yet, but I have since made a second version inspired by a selection of fabrics from Laurie Wisbrun's Modern Whimsy collection.

This quilt is so quick to work up! I did make a few of the wedges scrappy, just for fun, but still it's a quickie for sure.

My color choices began with the aqua and raspberry rabbit print. I worked around those colors, choosing other prints from the collection and adding in a few misc. fabrics from my stash to compliment the aqua/lime/raspberry scheme. I kind of surprised myself by using Kona Pomegranate for the background color, rather than a neutral. But, the bold, bright fuschia tone really had so much more to say.

I like how the Trellis Stripe binding asserts a bit of order to an otherwise super-playful quilt!

On the back I made use of leftover fabric pieced together in a log cabin style.

Still loving the bunny print... Is it Easter yet?

So, that's a wrap. Whimsy Wheel is awaiting a date with a baby-to-be. Let's hope it's a girl! If not, we'll just have to make another quilt.
Darn.

Modern Whimsy is made by Robert Kaufman in an organic cotton that has a luxurious hand. And it's organic cotton at regular price! This circles print is a great basic that's a smaller scale than Metro Living Circles. It looks like I'm ready for spring!
