on my table
This project has been a long time coming. It's a baby quilt for my best friend's baby, due this April. Another quilt from Handmade Beginnings by Anna Maria Horner? Why, yes, please!
Her little boy was the perfect excuse to buy that Urban Zoologie. I planned the quilt around the owl print in "Bermuda" and tried to source lots of greens and browns, which were requested by my friend.
I got stuck on brown - not enough brown tonals in my stash, but then I found Metro Living Circles in Chocolate at Sew Fresh Fabrics. Perfect! It's on its way to my house, but I couldn't wait. So, I started cutting random strips.
Which is the first step for making Anna's Sixth Time's the Charm Crib Quilt. This one is my most fav project in the entire book. It's so striking!
I've now pieced my strips and cut the huge loooooong strip down into appropriate widths. Here they are looking so tidy.
Ran to my mailbox today, but no fabric mail. Darn. My kids know by now that if I'm going out of my way to check the mailbox, I'm obviously hoping for fabric.
That's ok, I can wait one. more. day. Really, I need to think about how I'm going to approach the next step. Following the book's plan for piecing is simple, but makes a mountain of scraps. I think I'm gonna make it difficult instead...
