delightfully Lush

Happy Monday, friends! Did you have a good weekend? Elora and I got to swim at the lake (in my new swimsuit - yes!); plus, enjoy some other weekend fun. I didn’t get to sew much, but that’s what my work week is for.

I know, I know, I am the luckiest.

Well, I did make some progress on my Tangential Stars quilt! Here is where we left off last time. I had chosen the Pruned print for the joining squares that fall between these octagonal star blocks. With just four blocks to go, I decided to settle block arrangement so that I could scatter background colors and star prints nicely.

Then, I sewed a few more blocks in needed background colors. The solids are misc. finds from my stash. All the prints in this quilt are by Anna Maria Horner - either from her Brave collection or from her Love Always basics collection.

Look at the edges! What do you think?

I surprised myself by choosing this decadent print for the edge pieces, instead of opting for a somber solid. Some of the credit for that inspiration goes to Floris, who suggested red for the edge pieces. Red was too bold to my eye, but it gave me the idea to try something contrasting to the green/blue solid star backgrounds. The Labyrinth print in berry hues is delightfully over-the-top in a very lush, Anna Maria Horner sort of way. I like it very much!

So, ta da, a quilt top! This one turned out better than I imagined, which deepens the pleasure. I look forward to sharing the finish with you soon!
