Emerald: a mosaic contest
Slow down a minute, my friend, and ponder with me in color.
I invite you, today, to indulge in Emerald. This "lively, radiant, lush green, is the Color of the Year for 2013" -Pantone.

Emerald has always been a favorite color of mine. It's so strong, unashamed, rich and inviting. Amongst other greens, emerald leans towards the blue spectrum. It seems a little rare in fabrics, but that's likely to change! Kona Fern is a lovely example. In it's boldest form, emerald certainly turns heads. I love the way it pops out against blacks, whites and grays, insisting it is only green, only the most common color on earth. Only.

Emerald mixes well with all sorts of colors: yellow, blue, teal, pink, any shade of green and all the lovely neutrals, of course. With pink it reads vintage. With peach, ethereal. With aqua blue, dreamy and comfortable. In a rainbow, it blends, cheerfully. Emerald and navy is a classic combo with decidedly preppy indications. I particularly enjoy emerald with bright chartreuse green.

Yes, I do love green.
