Lecien Dots Picnic Blanket
Well that was quick.
No batting, no binding, just squares. Sew front and back right sides together. Turn. Edge stitch. Tie. It's that easy.
Only this time I cut my squares 9" instead of 8" and my picnic blanket ended up extra large. Surely not a problem?
These summery colors were fully inspired by Lecien polka dots. It was so easy to bring together a color scheme with those dots as my guide. I know that without them I would not have gone nearly so vibrant, but vibrant is good sometimes. Certainly on a picnic or at the beach!
Using a basic like a dot as my color scheme also helped me create a quilt that reads pretty scrappy. It doesn't feel like a "collection", you know? Super fun!
Used random home dec weight fabrics for the backing and was surprised to find I had enough in colors that suited. My mom had thrifted that large royal blue/white cut. Glad to find it a home!
And this pretty Jessica Jones print is also thrilled to be included. It feels quite fulfilled to become a picnic blanket.
So she's all wrapped up and tied with an attached strap. It's off to the cupboard in waiting for the big day. Because, yes, picnic blankets are headed for the craft fair! More to come.
