Summer Jewels
I know it's not summer yet. But, my color sense seems to skip right past spring tones to embrace the more vibrant, warm colors of summer. Just now I'm dreaming of jewel tones immersed in creamy swaths of light. All that bright open space sets the vibrant tones of these colors aglow.
This mosaic started as a work for a swap, but morphed into a contemplation of my identity. When I'm given a blank slate to choose colors just for me, I want them all and I want them saturated.
I was a shy child. I was intimidated by art in kindergarten. I dreaded group projects in middle school. I resisted public speaking even in college. But, if I am honest, all of those stances were rooted in fear, not in my essential personality. The fact is, I do have a lot to say. I want to be noticed. I love to share my opinions.
The colors reveal who I am.
