a Quilt I Couldn't Make

Yesterday the mailman left a package on my doorstep.  I had a feeling he was bringing something good for me.  A stack of new fabric?  No, the box was too big, too bulging.  It was addressed to me... from Hollie, a host with do. Good Stitches.  When I opened the box, out tumbled a wondrous thing - a quilt full of Good Folks fashioned in beautiful Japanese x & + blocks.  One after another, after another, so many of them!

finished and bound by Hollie (Undercover Crafter)

A quilt spread out on the floor in the sunshine.  I sat upon it stunned.  My eyes traveled from block to block.  In awe. In shock.  In the best kind of shock and awe.

A quilt full of so much color and so much clever piecing.

a Quilt to discover

A quilt brimming with my favorite fabrics and others, many, many other lovely ones I had and had not seen before.

a Quilt full of so much color

A quilt to discover.  Still sitting, still shocked.  Wondrous.

Truly Wondrous!

I opened the first letter, from Hollie.  The quilt is a gift from the members of do. Good Stitches, made by the hands of 12 circles, in the works since October.

A quilt I could never earn, but will always treasure.  And of course I cried then.  I know, I know that the ladies of do. Good Stitches are generous, amazing souls, but now I feel it in my hands, tangible evidence of the miracle that is love.   Freely given love.  Such a simple, precious thing.

Thank-YOU for this incredible
gift!

And the fabrics spoke to me, little glimpses of things I am drawn to, with black and text.  It's as if they know me.   And then... they do!

a Quilt with so much clever piecing

A quilt with an amazing surprise!  For what do I read in Hollie's letter, but that Anna has signed it?!?!?  Anna has signed it?  Anna Maria Horner has signed it?!!??!  Because by some stroke of luck she was in the right place at the right time and was kind enough to do so.  Truly wondrous.

signed by Anna Maria Horner!?!?!?

A quilt I couldn't make.  Nope, not in a million years.

a snuggle with my new favorite!

With overflowing thanks for your love on this Valentine's Day,

Rachel
