Softly Against Black: a mosaic contest

Slow down a minute, my friend, and ponder with me in color.

It started with Anthropologie's Oh To Dream quilt, pinned long ago with the phrase "softly against black." This (for me) unusual palette contrasts a soft, playful aesthetic with splashes of darker hues.

Today I've spent awhile wondering among soft halls, where glints of color seam to retreat into the dark edge of the night.  I see dreamy pinks.  Mysterious blues.  Romantic purples.  But most any color will do, tempered - - - softly, softly by feathered grays and dusky blacks.
