introducing, Brick House

(a million thanks to each and every one of you who has contacted me in comments, email and by phone to comfort and encourage!  I am so blessed by your friendship.  thank-you!!!)

Brick House really happened to me.  But, it was a nice surprise and quite the perfect way to bring back some cheer.  I was craving something easy, something brainless.  So, first I cut my fabrics into squares.  But they didn't like each other that way.  Indeed, I started wondering how I could have imagined they could be friends at all!  Then I recalled how nicely they looked folded in little rectangles in the fabric spread I showed you yesterday. And so, I sliced and diced until I had made some bricks.  Cause, I seem to have a thing with bricks.  And you thought I was square, didn't you?  Didn't you!

made with cuteness and love

Well, I'm not.  I'm brick.  The bricks tried making stacks, tried making rows and finally asked me to give them something fun to gather around.  (I think the bricks were remembering Rita's quilt.  And though they lacked a certain pointy quality, they aspired to give the look a try).  Once I'd cut the medallion center, the stars aligned and the entire brick house was born.

Brick House

Not that it's an amazing pattern or something, just that it arrived.  And I quite like it!  I cut it in one night and pieced it in another.  The finished size is 50" square - so delightfully sized for a baby quilt, so welcoming to many different fabrics, so (dare I say it) easy!  Well, if you like it, I can make a pattern.  You know, in all my spare time.  But really, one of the things on my 2011 list was "make a pattern to sell".  I'm still on the fence if this one is worthy, but I'm thinking maybe, maybe?

Brick House - pattern to come!

I do not think it would be fair to my Sixth Time's the Charm quilt to finish this Brick House first.  I mean, poor Sixth Time's waited patiently all through the magazine project, just folded properly, lips pursed.  Yes, I must finish that one first.  But that's all right. I really don't think I should show you a finished Brick House (ooh, I have a fun quilting idea!) until I have the pattern ready.  That is, if I make one...
