Teeter Totter: Week 5 Assemble

Time to wrap this up! I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this quick little sew-along. Maybe you’re even dreaming about sewing your next Teeter Totter quilt? They can be a bit addictive (says the person who just finished her third).

Thanks again for sewing along with me or for cheering on our progress via #TeeterTotterQuilt. It’s been a pleasure, as always.

Week 5: Assemble

Some quilts are composed of fancy, time-consuming blocks. Teeter Totter, in contrast, is made up of lots of easy-peasy blocks that piled up quickly in the weeks behind us. The trade off is that the Teeter Totter quilt assemble phase is more time consuming than some quilts. Set off with the expectation that assembly will take some time. Soon you’ll be rewarded with a finished quilt top - that’s totally worth it!

Step 1: Sew Vertical Sashing

Before you start arranging blocks into rows, it’s handy to begin by adding vertical sashing strips to the right side of each and every block. You can accomplish this quickly and efficiently by chain piecing. Don’t forget to alternate the orientation of the diagonal sashing stripe so that the blocks will tip back and forth in the quilt layout (teeter totter).

Step 2: Assemble

Ok, now the homestretch. Arrange blocks in rows and insert horizontal sashing (refer to the pattern details on quilt layout). Good luck with the assembly process. I can’t wait to see your quilt tops!!!

I’m pleased with how my purple ombre blend turned out. It’s a bit softer and more subtle than my first ombre quilt, which is what I was hoping for. Can’t wait to get her finished.

Week 5 Sew-Along Goal: Assemble

Complete that quilt top!

Weekly Giveaway

Last week’s winner is @LeukGemaakt. I think that you will agree that her version is absolutely stunning. What a brave and vibrant palette and with printed sashing fabric too.

Share to win!

Last chance! This week share a photo of your teeter totter blocks in progress with hashtag #TeeterTotterQuilt. Fingers crossed we get to see your finished quilt top.

Your photo enters you into a giveaway for a Willoughby Quilt Kit by Tales of Cloth. This is Jodi’s brand-new pattern, and you get the paper pieces and acrylic cutting set too!

Willoughby is the best of both worlds. The EPP is relaxed and fun and enjoyed in all the little moments where you want to be more present, but once the blocks are done, you just want to be done! Willoughby allows you to trim your EPP blocks square, and machine sew them into the quilt top in an afternoon! Win-win!

Winner will be announced next week and giveaway is open worldwide.

good luck, friends!
