Two Little Cuties for my Penny Sampler

September is nearly upon us. I’m pondering sewing Rora a long-sleeve dress and dreaming about all that autumn could offer. I do so love the change of seasons!

It’s time to prepare another delivery for Penny Sampler Pattern Club. Our September blocks include two little cuties, each with unique dimensions and easy-to-sew foundation paper patterns.

First up, Faceted Diamond. This one could be sewn even more simply, but I chose to divide the block into quadrants to create pretty center seams. I used scraps of that black pin-stripe fabric, which I’m using often in my sampler, to create the center diamond shape.

Look how those stripes nearly align! That’s just luck, my friends. I would never attempt such magic!

Next up - Tree block. This one is definitely a new favorite. It’s nice that it’s sewn on one single paper foundation. The angles cascade layer after layer, sewing together with ease.

I don't think I’m done with this one. I love its tall, swaying personality. Like many of the Penny Sampler blocks, I hear Tree whispering to become something more.

With November’s club delivery, members will receive a second alternative quilt pattern - something like Seafarers, which provides a way to use the sampler blocks in a totally different setting. Perhaps Tree block will have a part to play a part there.
