Bespoke Nightgown
I knew I could count on you! On Friday I asked for advice about modifying the
Oliver & S Playtime dress pattern to use as a nightgown. I was cutting into
Cotton & Steel Bespoke double gauze, pattern size 10.
You suggested reversing the bodice so that the buttons land in the front, accessible to my 10-year-old. How simple is that? I also cut the "back" bodice pieces with a slightly lower scoop to convert them into a nicer front neckline, and we were good to go! After completing the dress, my daughter and I even decided not to use buttons. The soft gauze fabric separates with an attractive and modest fit.
Does that gown look a bit rumpled to you? That's because she swiped it last night on her way to bed. Apparently, that's a success!
I love the scattered design details and "torn edges" on this double gauze print? It makes it the funkiest nightgown I've seen yet. And, truly, I would like a nightgown in double gauze too. I think it's the perfect fabric for bed, baby clothes or swaddling blankets. Maybe the leftovers wil become a frock for Eleni this summer. So lightweight and cozy!
Thanks again for your advice!
